A video summarizing mobility ideas from the design studio has been released
Redesigning "people's mobility" for a new era from the perspective of architecture and cities
Mitsubishi Jisho Design Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Junichi Tanisawa) is pleased to announce that it has created a concept movie titled "SMS: Seamless Mobility System," which compiles ideas for a new era of mobility positioned as a "tool that connects cities, architecture, and people," and has begun releasing it to the public online. As an expanded version of the concept booklet produced in October 2011, the movie uses CG animation to depict "a city of the future brought about by the evolution of mobility."
Furthermore, we will actively incorporate and develop the various ideas introduced here into our proposals that address the diverse challenges of modern cities and architecture, with the aim of further strengthening our proposal capabilities.
Considering "new mobility mechanisms" as "ways of using cities and architecture"
Concept Movie
Our company not only designs individual buildings, but also undertakes various urban planning and large-scale redevelopment planning and consulting both in Japan and overseas. We not only propose ideas for the hard aspects of cities, such as buildings and streets, but also for the soft aspects based on rapid technological innovation, such as the creation of smart cities, and we work every day to come up with proposals that look to the future.
"SMS" (Seamless Mobility System) is a proposal from the design firm Mitsubishi Jisho Design for a "system to make cities more advanced." It combines three types of "movement": 1) City: Transportation within the city; 2) Architecture: Transportation within buildings (elevators, etc.); and 3) People: Body augmentation tools (wheelchairs, walking assistance robots, etc.), to make people's movement seamless both inside and outside buildings. It allows people to use space more freely, bringing diversity and variability to cities. This movie introduces the concept in a roughly three-and-a-half minute video.

About the booklet "SMS: Seamless Mobility System"
We are currently selling a booklet titled "SMS: Seamless Mobility System" (A4 modified version, 92 pages, retail price: 3,000 yen plus tax), which compiles social proposals by our architects involved in architectural and urban design on how various forms of mobility can change cities, buildings, and the way people spend their time.
We are currently applying for design rights for several of the mobility products featured in the magazine. Going forward, we plan to develop actual products and incorporate them into our urban and architectural proposals.
