High-precision digital twin model
Demonstration of thermal equipment solution "HEAT DX" begins
Mitsubishi Jisho Design Inc. and Osaka Energy Services Co., Ltd. have contributed to a decarbonized society through the optimal design, operation, and maintenance management of district heating and cooling (DHC) plants, which boast top-class energy efficiency.
Using the data analysis technology required to build load forecasts and operation models based on this know-how, along with the latest AI technology from Relationship Consulting Co., Ltd., we have constructed a highly accurate digital twin model of thermal equipment and have begun demonstrations of "HEAT DX" (registered trademark pending), which solves new challenges such as advanced demand response and further improvement of equipment quality that could not be solved with previous technologies.
Through collaboration between DHC Design, Operation Management, and AI Engineering,
"HEAT DX" uses high-precision digital twin models to solve new-age challenges
"HEAT DX" is an innovative service brand that "optimizes all operations, from operation to inspection and maintenance of thermal equipment, through digital solutions using digital twin technology and IoT devices (Wi-Fi cameras, etc.)." Currently undergoing operational support verification at the above plant, the company aims to further develop and enhance the service.

Development Background
In order to realize a decarbonized society, the introduction of power generation facilities that utilize renewable energy (solar, wind, etc.) is progressing.
On the other hand, because the production (supply) volume of this energy fluctuates depending on weather and other conditions, demand response (DR) is required for consumers to increase or decrease their electricity demand depending on the supply situation.
In this context, district heating and cooling facilities (DHCs) are equipped with power supply and demand adjustment equipment such as large-scale thermal storage systems and are expected to serve as one of the "urban DR resources." However, to make effective use of these facilities, operation managers are required to have more advanced experience and operating skills than ever before.
Against this background, HEAT DX, which provides operational support for DHC plants, was demonstrated and launched with the aim of resolving the thermal equipment industry and the social issues surrounding it.
What is driving assistance with HEAT DX?
Data such as outside air temperature and humidity, flow rate, temperature, pressure, and valve opening were compiled into a data set that can reproduce system operation, and a highly accurate digital twin model was constructed using the latest machine learning. Operation support with "HEAT DX" supports optimized operation by providing real-time information from the cloud-based system using this digital twin model to the operator of the actual plant, including load forecasts, operation plans, operation monitoring, and operation evaluation.
Future developments
Currently, in addition to supporting the operation of DHC plants, we are taking it a step further and starting to automate inspection work using IOT devices with the aim of reducing the labor required for maintenance personnel.
Going forward, we will enhance our operation and maintenance database to achieve "reduced energy costs by responding to new electricity markets" and "reduced labor and maintenance costs by optimizing maintenance." By providing optimization solutions that extend to comprehensive heating facilities other than DHC, we will contribute to the realization of Society 5.0.
