"Shinkenchiku February 2026 Special Edition: ZEB+: Beyond Zero Energy - Mitsubishi Electric SUSTIE Achieves Both ZEB and WELL," which we collaborated on editing, was released today.

Today, the book "New Architecture February 2026 Special Edition ZEB+: Beyond Zero Energy: Mitsubishi Electric SUSTIE Achieves Both ZEB and WELL," which we co-edited with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, was released.
This book features Mitsubishi Electric Corporation's ZEB-related technology demonstration building "SUSTIE," which we were responsible for designing, and provides a multifaceted explanation of the technology integration that aims to achieve both energy conservation and comfort, which will be required for urban offices in the future.

SUSTIE uses various sensors installed indoors and outdoors to continuously measure temperature, humidity, ozone concentration, PM10 concentration, pollen count, and other factors, and conducts detailed environmental analysis. In addition, we attempt to understand subjective comfort and satisfaction through regular questionnaire surveys of workers. This book presents these measurement data and survey results in visual form.

The opening roundtable discussion welcomed Shinichi Tanabe (Professor, Waseda University), Virne W. Olesen (Professor Emeritus, Technical University of Denmark; President of ASHRAE (2017-18)), and Richard de Dia (Professor Emeritus, University of Sydney), who discussed the significance of SUSTIE and their outlook for the next generation of offices.

We hope that through our efforts at SUSTIE, a "living lab" where experiments are conducted daily, you will be able to get a sense of what the next generation office will be like and its possibilities.
