Slit Park YURAKUCHO

Mitsubishi Estate Group is working on experimental Renovation that make use of outdoor spaces such as the rooftops and roads of existing buildings. As part of this, they have drawn the bustle of Marunouchi Nakadori Street into the building, creating a park-like path that leads to a back alley and onto the neighboring block. Shoppers and families are drawn in by the entrance, covered with earthen walls that resemble geological strata, and as they go further in, they pass businessmen waiting for the elevator and people enjoying music and drinks at the DJ booth surrounded by greenery. A small buzz of activity is born in the gaps between the skyscrapers, and a new landscape is slowly spreading across the city. (Plan outline: New Kokusai Building)
