SEITOKU Kindergarten

This is a reconstruction of a kindergarten in a residential area of Tokyo, with construction that continued while residents were still living there. The kindergarten's activities can be seen from the surrounding area, such as in the yards and alleys of houses, and we aimed to maintain an appropriate distance between the children's educational environment and the residents' living environment, building an open relationship. The nursery room has an open space with no pillars or walls on the corners, allowing sight lines to flow and creating an environment where children can feel a variety of connections with their surroundings. The new garden created between the kindergarten building and the houses adds to the lush local landscape and also contributes to improving the sunlight environment.
