FUKAYA-HANAZONO Premium Outlets®

This commercial facility opened in Fukaya City, Saitama Prefecture, known as the town of bricks, and is based on the concept of an "outlet that coexists with the Fukaya community." The design of the facility makes use of the attractive features of the land, and aims to be a "tourist hub that contributes to the development of the community." Like the nearby scenic Nagatoro mountain stream, each building is arranged diagonally to create a flow, and the exterior walls are laid out with openwork bricks. The plan incorporates the abstraction and reconstruction of the local nature, industry, and culture, such as the plaza with a large origami-style roof that evokes the distant view of the Chichibu mountain range, and the corridor with a motif of lilies, a specialty of Fukaya, to create "newness."

Landscape

In order to realize a facility plan that is connected to the everyday scenery of the region, Landscape plan aimed to create a paving and furniture plan that takes the flow of the Nagatoro River as its motif, a planting plan that leaves the area in its natural state without excessive alteration, and the creation of generous flow lines and pools that allow for a variety of activities.By incorporating the rich natural environment, the site has become a place that also serves to promote its appeal as a tourism hub open to the local community.
