Mitsubishi Jisho Design's BIM: The “Present” and Future

Currently, BIM is being established around the world as a game changer for traditional design. For example, the UK announced "Construction 2025," which sets goals for the period up to 2025, and BIM has been positioned as a national strategy. It was inevitable for our company, which is involved in numerous projects not only in Japan but also overseas, to adopt BIM. The BIM Promotion Office, established within the R&D Promotion Department, has set out the three pillars of "tools," "education," and "operation," and is working on developing a BIM environment as a dedicated department. Several full-scale BIM projects are already underway simultaneously both in Japan and overseas, including the iconic "TOKYO TORCH" project.
In today's world where performance evaluation and carbon-neutral designs are required, Architectural Design themselves can further promote the digital transformation of buildings by acquiring the skills to convert designs into digital data and seek optimal designs, accelerating the "visualization of designs" that utilizes BIM models from concept design stage of construction.
