Tokio Marine Headquarters Building
Tokio Marine Headquarters Building
The project aims to create a refined and elegant "wooden flagship building" that blends in with the Marunouchi streetscape and is suitable for its location facing Gyoko-dori Avenue, which connects Tokyo Station, the "gateway to Japan," with the Imperial Palace. Planning is being carried out in collaboration with Renzo Piano Building Workshop.
Wood plays an important role in the design, with domestic timber used abundantly for the structural components of the pillars and floors. Plans also include a glass facade that changes its appearance subtly with the seasons and time of day, a lush rooftop garden, and a patio (courtyard) in the center of the entrance.
In addition to using domestic timber, the building will be the first in Marunouchi to feature earthquake-resistant construction for the entire above-ground floor, providing high disaster response capabilities. It also aims to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through its excellent environmental performance.
