Tokio Marine Headquarters Building (Tentative name)
Tokio Marine Headquarters Building
The project aims to create a refined and elegant wooden flagship building that blends in with the streetscape of Marunouchi and is suitable for its location facing Gyoko-dori Avenue, which connects Tokyo Station, the "gateway to Japan," and the Imperial Palace. Planning is being carried out in collaboration with Renzo Piano Building Workshop.
Wood plays an important role in the design, with domestic timber being used lavishly for the structural components of the pillars and floors. Plans also include a glass facade that will subtly change appearance with the seasons and time of day, a lush rooftop garden, and a patio (courtyard) in the center of the entrance.
In addition to using domestic timber, the building will be the first in Marunouchi to have earthquake-resistant construction for the entire above-ground building, giving it a high level of disaster response capability, as well as excellent environmental performance, with the aim of making it a presence that contributes to the realization of a sustainable society.
