Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park GLOBAL RING
Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park GLOBAL RING
A renovation plan for Ikebukuro West Exit Park, which was developed in 1990 in conjunction with the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre (Geigeki).
The "spiral ring" expresses the energy of the spring waters of Maruike Pond, which once stood here. The sky, cut out in a circle, will become an "asset" for the town, which will be transformed by the redevelopment. The stage building's facade employs a geometric design, creating continuity with the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre and Metropolitan Plaza, while further enhancing the potential of those buildings. The sound and digital art installed alongside the GLOBAL RING bring a sense of unity to the park, creating an incentive for people to visit. This project adds new value to the town and is carefully planned to meet its needs, taking on the challenge of "redevelopment = urban updating" in a mature society.
