OTEMON GAKUIN UNIVERSITY THE ACADEMIC-ARK

To mark the 130th anniversary of the founding of the college, we plan to build a new campus where approximately half of the students will study, located closer to the station than the existing campus. Envisioning what a university should be like in the internet age, where knowledge can be obtained without going to a learning center, we created a single building that brings people together, and in order to concentrate the bustle of learning, we composed the plan of a triangle formed by the smallest possible points. Each vertex is cut at a large angle to attract people, and we have created an extraordinary space with a strong symbolism, with the library floating in the center of the building, and below it is an auditorium where students will naturally gather. The library is surrounded by walking paths lined with bookshelves and classrooms, and a large atrium between the library and walking paths visualizes the bustle of learning that unfolds here.
facade is covered with a stainless steel cast screen with a cherry blossom motif, the school's flower, which reduces the school's environmental impact. This not only expresses the school's identity, but also functions as a lantern for the local area when lit up at night.
