Otemachi, Tokyo, is home to offices of many of Japan's leading companies and organizations. Since 2003, Mitsubishi Estate has been spearheading a project to rebuild large, aging buildings and redevelop them into a business hub with even greater international competitiveness. The project aims to revitalize the city by gradually developing an area of approximately 17.4 hectares, with a chain of relocations and rebuildings taking place, without interrupting the business activities of landowners and tenant companies.
The third phase of the project, completed in 2016, saw the construction of two buildings: "Grand Cube," consisting of offices on the upper floors and shops on the lower floors, and the accommodation facility "HOSHINOYA Tokyo." Located at a location that connects the first and second phases of the project, the building has created a lively public space that blends in with its surroundings, and is also attracting attention as Japan's first disaster prevention base building, responsible for disaster prevention in the area.
