YASKAWA Electric Headoffice, Innovation Center (Miraikan)
YASKAWA Electric Headoffice, Innovation Center (Miraikan)
A restructuring plan for the head office of Yaskawa Electric, a global manufacturer of inverters and industrial robots.
The head office building has concentrated its office areas on the top floor, where natural lighting from the skylights and high sidelights allows employees to work without using lights during the day. The entire building acts as a eaves, effectively blocking direct sunlight in the summer and reducing the heat load on the interior.
Yaskawa Electric Miraikan is an exhibition, experience and learning facility that conveys the appeal of manufacturing and the latest robot technology. The exterior has a distinctive shape inspired by the high-speed and complex movements of the company's main product, the industrial robot "MOTOMAN." The surrounding area has been designed as a green space called "YASKAWA Forest" where the general public can freely stroll, completely changing the image of the existing industrial area.
