Nishi-Shimbashi Square
A plan to convert the former Nippon Oil Corporation headquarters building into a tenant office building.
facade design, which features exterior columns that eliminate the need for pillars inside the building and a double-skin curtain wall that prevents the building from being lost in the streetscape, has enabled both effective use of office space and environmental performance. As the building was located on the edge of an outer moat during the Edo period, the interior is based on a Japanese motif, featuring stone walls, lattices, and washi paper, and the use of domestically sourced lumber also contributes to low carbon emissions.
