The Bank of Fukuoka, Omuta Branch
The Bank of Fukuoka, Omuta Branch
A branch of Fukuoka Bank facing a major highway in Omuta City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
The lush green space and parking lot in front of the store will be open to the public on holidays for events, and will also function as an evacuation plaza in the event of a disaster. With a focus on contributing to the development of Omuta, this was an unprecedented branch plan for the bank.
The exterior is made of materials such as "iron" and "brick", which are reminiscent of the "Miyahara Pit", a symbol of Omuta, a former coal mining town, with phosphoric acid-treated steel panel louvers over 5m high on the front (west side), and brick blocks used for the exterior paving and fence. The louvers, which characterize the exterior, effectively block the afternoon sun, and there are 10kW solar panels on the roof, permeable exterior paving, and an exterior with lush vegetation that changes with the seasons, making this an environmentally friendly bank branch.
