The head office building of this "community-based credit union" blends in with the culture of Kumagaya.
Taking inspiration from the bamboo blinds found under the eaves of the former post town (Kumagaya-juku), facade on the old Nakasendo side is designed as a light, airy "bamboo blind screen" made of terracotta louvers (high floors) and openwork brickwork (low floors). This provides shade from the sun in summer, provides adequate privacy, and creates a friendly appearance on the national highway side.
The building also features a base isolation structure, a textured finish inside and out, and lighting.
