Sunshine City Cultural Center Building: Earthquake-resistance reinforcement of the loading and unloading route

Sunshine City Bunka Kaikan Building

Earthquake reinforcement work on the access road to the Sunshine City Cultural Center building, which branches off from the Metropolitan Expressway Route 5 Higashi-Ikebukuro exit.
In carrying out this work, we first organized the conditions necessary for the seismic reinforcement design by conducting a survey of the current condition of materials and consulting with Metropolitan Expressway. Based on the conditions organized, we implemented measures to reinforce the bridge piers by filling them with concrete, reinforce the bearings by installing a bridge collapse prevention system, and implement shock absorbing measures by installing an expansion device between the building and the bridge.
Because the construction work had to be carried out while the access roads for loading and unloading remained in use, we carefully coordinated in advance with the facility manager, shared a daily construction plan, and proceeded with the utmost care.
