Tunnel design and Construction Supervision for the Marunouchi 1-chome and 2-chome district heating and cooling facility
In the Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho districts, where large buildings are lined up, district heating and cooling and cooling systems have been introduced with the aim of improving the efficiency of heat sources and ensuring a stable supply, and the heat transfer medium produced in plants is supplied through a network of tunnels buried under the roads that connects each building. As redevelopment progresses in these areas, new expansions and updates to this tunnel network are being carried out in line with construction plans.
In designing the tunnel, we paid attention to the location and height of building connections, as well as the structure of various infrastructure such as sewers, and the distance and proximity to underground passages and subways, and aimed to realize the optimal route and structure after consulting with various stakeholders.
As the construction work takes place under urban roads, shield and pipe jacking methods are often used in consideration of the impact on traffic and the surrounding area. Departure and arrival shafts are constructed and covering plates are installed during the day to open the road, and work is carried out at night under traffic restrictions.
