Tunnel design and Construction Supervision for district heating and cooling facility in Marunouchi 1-chome and 2-chome
In the Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho districts, where large buildings stand side by side, district heating and cooling systems have been introduced with the aim of improving the efficiency of heat sources and ensuring a stable supply, and the heat transfer medium produced in the plant is supplied through a network of tunnels buried under the roads that connect each building. As redevelopment progresses in these areas, new expansions and updates to this network of tunnels are being promoted in line with construction plans.
In designing the tunnel, we took into consideration the location and height of building connections, as well as the structure of the tunnel when it was close to or distant from various infrastructure such as sewers, underground passages and subways, and aimed to realize the optimal route and structure after consulting with various stakeholders.
Because the construction work is carried out under urban roads, shield and tunneling methods are often used in consideration of the impact on traffic and the neighborhood. Starting and arrival shafts are constructed, and covering plates are installed during the day to open the road, and work is carried out at night under traffic restrictions.
