Nagoya City Government Building Earthquake Resistance Renovation (Seismic Isolation Retrofit)
Nagoya City Government Building Earthquake Resistance Renovation (Seismic Isolation Retrofit)
Nagoya City's main office building is a historical building designated as a registered tangible cultural property, and it was also required to maintain its function as a disaster prevention base. The seismic retrofit method using base isolation was adopted for the seismic retrofit, which involves installing a seismic isolation device between the existing foundation and the basement floor. The seismic isolation work was carried out "while the city hall functions were still in place," without relocating the building.
