Environmental impact assessment for Nitto Flour Mill Tokyo Factory

Applicable laws and regulations: Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance
Eligible business: Construction of a factory (site area of 9,000 m2 or more or building area of 3,000 m2 or more)
Completed: 1990

This project involved relocating the flour mill and wheat silo owned by Nitto Flour Milling Co., Ltd. in response to changes in surrounding traffic conditions due to urbanization. The factory, originally located in Harumi, Chuo Ward, Tokyo, was relocated to Oi Wharf in Ota Ward.
The environmental assessment was carried out regarding noise and vibrations caused by the operation of the factory, and the impact on the surrounding landscape. As an environmental conservation measure, the exhaust vent for the fumigation of wheat silos (killing and disinfecting grains by smoking them with gas) is located 50 meters above ground to reduce the burden on the environment.
