Minamimachi Dori Center Building

This tenant building was planned in the urban area of Sendai on the site of the former Norinchukin Bank Sendai branch building, which had a classical facade was built in 1938. After exploring ways to preserve the historic building, we decided to retain the silhouette of the original building while reconstructing a modern facade using a glass curtain wall, thereby preserving the image of the historic building. We also preserved and exhibited the capitals of the columns and lattice screens from the old building to give the tenant building its distinctive character.
