Marunouchi Building
The Tokyo Station/Marunouchi area has been built up for 100 years since the Meiji era. This project marked the beginning of the third renewal of the area.
One of the themes is the "inheritance of the cultivated streetscape" that includes the former Marunouchi Building (1923) that stood on this site, and the "fusion of new spaces."
Based on the new-age urban development concept of "Open Interactive Network," the new building inherits the spirit of creating excitement from the former Maru Building's "Cross Arcade."
In order to expand this bustle from within the building to the town, we placed "Maru Cube," a cubic atrium space with 30m sides that connects with Nakadori, which runs north and south through the Marunouchi area.
This project marked the transformation of Marunouchi from a former office district into a bustling area where people gather 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and it pointed to new directions and possibilities for subsequent development.
