Japan Broadcasting Corporation SAGA Station
Japan Broadcasting Corporation SAGA Station
Based on the concept of "a pioneer in urban revitalization, serving as a hub for information, culture, and exchange," we aimed to create a broadcasting station that shares the workings of public broadcasting with viewers and is rooted in the local community. Taking advantage of the location, close to the ruins of Saga Castle and a prefectural square, we developed indoor and outdoor spaces that directly connect the real broadcasting space with the town. With facade inspired by porcelain stone, the raw material for ceramics, we created a building that blends in with the town and exudes a sense of familiarity. We also considered using pottery fragments, which become industrial waste in the ceramic manufacturing process, and used them in the exterior and some of the interior finishes.
