This is a plan to redevelop the base for urban missionary work at Tsukiji Honganji Temple. The site of the old branch temple and the adjacent public restrooms were developed together, with the aim of creating a new urban temple. While expanding pedestrian space by widening sidewalks and other measures, the temple will also be equipped with a temple cafe and community hub in peacetime, public restrooms and a stockpile warehouse to contribute to disaster prevention in times of emergency, and a nursing home to contribute to the enhancement of elderly welfare facilities in the area. The exterior will follow the traditional Japanese image that has been familiar for many years, and by utilizing the roof tiles and wood from the old branch temple for facade, the temple aims to pass on the memory of the townscape.
