THE BANK OF FUKUOKA Minami-Kokura Branch
THE BANK OF FUKUOKA Minami-Kokura Branch
This was a reconstruction project that called for an environmentally friendly bank branch.
The building has a "layered" floor plan with non-air-conditioned rooms and back rooms located around the perimeter where the outside heat load is high, and deep openings prevent direct sunlight from reaching the interior of the building. These and other passive methods have reduced the environmental impact, resulting in Nearly ZEB certification.
In recent years, steel construction has become the norm for bank buildings, but here the exterior is reinforced concrete with earthquake-resistant elements, integrating design and structure, and helping to avoid the risk of rising steel prices and construction delays. At the same time, the reinforced concrete framework is finished facade, creating a highly designed exterior. Inside, "MI Deck" (manufactured by MEC Industry), a formwork and finishing material, was introduced, creating a warm and open space that meets society's demand for the use of wood.
