The Grand Outlet - East Jakarta Karawang

This is a large-scale outlet mall development project in the suburbs of Jakarta, Indonesia, a city experiencing rapid economic growth.
Approximately 150 stores will be built on a vast site of approximately 88,000 m2. Combining our extensive experience in designing outlets across Japan with the local business know-how of our Singapore subsidiary, Mitsubishi Jisho Design Asia Jisho Sekkei Asia, we will undertake a series of initiatives from the upstream of the project to post-construction support.
The collaboration between the two locations embodied the concept of "Shopping in Nature." Simulation and computational design were used to create a comfortable semi-outdoor commercial space, a rare find in this tropical climate, with features such as a glass roof that creates an appearance of sunlight filtering through the trees.
