The Grand Outlet - East Jakarta Karawang

A large-scale outlet mall development project in the suburbs of Jakarta, Indonesia, a city experiencing rapid economic growth.
Approximately 150 stores will be built on a vast site of approximately 88,000 m2. Combining our extensive experience in designing outlets across Japan with the business know-how of our local subsidiary Mitsubishi Jisho Design Asia, we will undertake a series of initiatives from the upstream of the project to post-construction support.
The two locations worked together to embody the concept of "Shopping in Nature." Simulation and computational design were used to create a glass roof that looks like sunlight filtering through the trees, creating a comfortable semi-outdoor retail space that is rare in this tropical climate.
