The 12-story hotel has a wooden hybrid structure and is being constructed by Heiwa Real Estate as part of the Nihonbashi Kabutocho/Kayabacho revitalization project.
While the main structure is made of steel, the pillars and beams around the perimeter of the guest rooms are made of wood, and are exposed to facade, creating an impression of sustainability. In addition to using wood for the structure, timber formwork will be used to raise the ceiling height in the guest rooms on the lower to middle floors, creating an open space where the texture of wood can be felt.
In terms of the structural plan, the building was evaluated for its suitability for wooden construction and rational selection and adoption of wooden materials, leading to it being selected as a leading initiative for sustainable buildings (wooden construction type) in fiscal year 2022. This project demonstrates the potential of introducing wooden construction to mid- to high-rise buildings in urban areas.
