Domestic timber will be used in abundance for the structural members, columns, and floors. Plans include a glass facade that changes its appearance subtly with the seasons and time of day, a lush rooftop garden, and a patio in the center of the entrance. In addition to its excellent environmental performance, the \"wooden headquarters building\" will be the first new high-rise building in the Marunouchi area to use seismically isolated construction for the entire above-ground area, and will contribute to the realization of a safe, secure, and sustainable society with its high disaster response capabilities. It was designed with the concept of \"Illuminating Japan and the World\u201d by the team of designers in which Mitsubishi Jisho Design as the core architect. Together with Tokiwabashi Tower, Zenibeicho Building, and Tokiwabashi Park, Torch Tower will create a truly open environment connected to the surroundings.\r\n\u3000Around the foot of the building are the Large Plaza and Tokiwabashi Park, both lush with water and greenery, welcoming a diverse range of people. From this project, we aim to connect the regions of Japan and Tokyo by disseminating information from around the country, and to create a place where a people can gather. Large scale shopping area and 2,000-seat auditorium are located in the podium and they are connected by the skywalk. And with the Large Plaza at its core, Torch Tower and Tokiwabashi Tower form a trinity of spaces.\r\nThe Sky Lobbies are designed on the typical office floors as a places for office workers to relax and enjoy the view of Tokyo. \r\nFloating atop a hill in the sky, luxury residences, the world-class luxury hotel brands, the Dorchester Collection, and the observation deck are planned in the Crown of the tower. The lower floors, with their V-shaped columns and atrium space, will provide a lush green plaza where people can relax. While the main structure is steel frame construction, the pillars and beams around the periphery of the guest rooms are made of wood, as is the exposed facade, revealing the project\u2019s contribution to sustainability. In addition to using wood for the structure, lumber formwork will be used to raise the ceiling height of the guest rooms on the lower and middle floors, creating a more open space where guests can feel the texture of wood. The structural plan was praised for verifying areas suitable for wood construction and selecting and adopting appropriate wooden materials, and thus, the project was selected as a \u201cPioneering Sustainable Building Project (pioneering wood-based type) in 2022\u201d by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Perforated louvers shield users from direct sunlight while letting the breeze through, reducing the heat load on the exterior walls and creating a comfortable spot under the eaves. The office is designed to have highly flexible work spaces and refreshing areas, creating an environment where bank employees can work together. The semi-outdoor terrace that connects to the office is a place for interaction. The exterior is designed to act as a gentle border between the interior, opening toward Keyaki-Dori Avenue. At the same time, it shields the office interior from direct sunlight, and reduces the air conditioning load together with the high-performance exterior. Energy conservation is achieved through a heat source system that uses groundwater, and energy is generated through solar power generation equipment, making it the first high-rise tenant office building over 20,000 \u33a1 in Japan to achieve Nearly ZEB. In addition to striving to create an attractive workplace and improve the well-being of workers, consideration was also given to sustainability, with exterior fins, optimized through environmental simulation, for sun shading and natural ventilation. We pursued \"next-generation office standards\" from multiple perspectives, including BCP (Business Continuity Plan) measures with patented Sliding Core Wall Seismic Control System (page 25). The facilities and paths were laid out to avoid cutting down trees that had been protected for over 70 years, and all rainwater is allowed to seep into the ground to return to groundwater, promoting plant growth and preserving the environment. Additionally, a library filled with books donated by local residents was constructed along the path. The enriching of the local community through books is visualized as a \"forest bookshelf,\" with a large roof placed over it, creating a simple structure. The deep eaves over the veranda, where people can relax in the shade, prevent the books from fading by blocking direct sunlight, and the building as a whole has acquired ZEB Ready certification due to its reduced environmental impact. The lower fa\u00e7ade is clad in brickwork, used for sewerage systems in the Meiji and Taisho periods, to highlight the building\u2019s character as a sewerage facility.
