Year Book 2018The Message of Drawings曾禰達蔵が手掛けた三菱四号館は一号館と二号館との間に位置していました。馬場先通りに面する立面を比較すると、隣の一号館をベースにしながら二号館の屋根の造形と壁の構成を取り入れており、両者との連続性を重視してデザインしたことがうかがえます。なお、四号館の図面には採用されなかった原案があり、そこでは実施案よりもさらに一号館に近いデザインが描かれていました。Mitsubishi Building No. 4, designed by Tatsuzo Sone, is located between Building No. 1 and Building No. 2. Comparing the elevations on Babasaki-dori, Sone’s design is based on Building No. 1 but utilizes the roof shape and wall conguration of Building No. 2, emphasizing continuity between the two. Another elevation drawing of Building No. 4 exists, showing a design that was closer to Building No. 1. It was not adopted.曾禰達蔵 1852−1937工部大学校 ※ 造家学科の一回生、4人の内の一人で、ジョサイア・コンドルに西洋建築を学んだ日本人初の建築家。三菱社の顧問に就任したコンドルの推薦で入社し、建築技師（後に建築士）として、払い下げを受けた丸の内の都市計画と建築計画を担当した。三菱合資会社退職後は、中條精一郎とともに「曾禰中條建築事務所」を設立し、東京海上ビルや日本郵船ビル、日石の有楽館、慶應義塾創立五十年記念図書館（重要文化財）などを手がけた。※ 現東京大学の前身の一つ。Tatsuzo Sone (1852–1937)Tatsuzo Sone was one of the first Japanese architects. He studied Western architecture under Josiah Conder, and was one of the first four graduates from the Department of Architecture at the Imperial College of Engineering.* On the recommendation of Conder, who was an advisor to the Mitsubishi Company, he entered the firm an architectural engineer (later architect). He was entrusted with urban and architectural planning in the Marunouchi district, newly purchased from the government.After leaving Mistubishi, he founded the Sone Chujo Architectural Oce with his partner Seiichiro Chujo, and completed many buildings, including the Tokyo Marine Insurance Building, the Nihon Yusen Building, the Nippon Oil Building, and the 50th anniversary commemorative Old Library at Keio University (an important cultural property).* Imperial College of Engineering: One of the predecessors of the University of Tokyo.The Message of Drawings［ 図面が語る過去から未来へのメッセージ ］第2回　曾禰達蔵の時代Part 2. The Era of Tatsuzo Sone三菱地所設計は1890年（明治23年）に三菱社の内部に設置された「丸ノ内建築所」から128年続く、わが国で最も歴史のある設計組織です。当社が管理する建築図面は、1894年（明治27年）に竣工した三菱一号館にはじまり現在に至るまで途切れることなく残されており、それらを分析すると各時代の設計思想を読み解くことができます。「図面が語る過去から未来へのメッセージ」。第２回は最初の技師長となった曾禰達蔵にスポットを当てます。Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei was founded in in 1890 as the Marunouchi Architectural Office within the Mitsubishi Company. It is Japan’s oldest architectural design rm. The rm’s archives contain an unbroken series of architectural drawings dating back to 1894, when the Mitsubishi Ichigokan (Building No. 1) was completed. These drawings can be analyzed to reveal the technology and architectural philosophy of the eras since then.
