The project, which plays a part in the effort, is a recovery and chronic care hospital with 179 beds. The building's large eaves reduce the heat load from the harsh sunlight. With the terrace and pedestrian walkways, it connects to other facilities in the district. The hospital adopted a “zero circulation ward,” which has a hallway named the “engawa corridor” located immediately inside the exterior wall. Incorporated into the engawa corridor are the lighting solutions, etc. which contribute to the improvement of the patient room environment. In addition, the sta■ stations are directly connected to the patient rooms, eliminating (minimizing) the circulation for medical sta■　 We proposed a new method for designing a ward with overlapping professional requirements. The project became the ■rst hospital facility to be registered under the revised Design Act.
