Project Description

The office was designed specifically to the needs of the Mitsubishi Estate Asia (MEA) and Mitsubishi Jisho Design Asia (MJDA) team. The design direction was agreed upon through the alignment of philosophies by MEA and MJSA, who hold a strong respect for local cultures wherever they are based, and believe in enhancing it through a Japanese ethos and approach. The design was eventually realised in collaboration with our interior design subsidiary. Formal and semi-formal areas were cleverly planned through attention to circulation and moveable louvres that would demarcate the external client areas and internal workspace areas through an intermediate pantry space which can be converted into other uses. With a limited office space, ensuring flexibility and convertibility of spaces were key. The use of natural materials such as wood for the louvres and pebble wash for the floor was to bring in the respect for natural elements into the office space.

A well defined entrance space, reminiscing that of a Japanese entrance hallway, continues into the internal office space through a seamless language of wooden louvres from the public corridor.

Large windows and city views to welcome clients, guided by a row of louvres as a transition from a public space into an exclusive yet cozy seating area.

A flexible semi-formal pantry space which can be used for both light meals or tea time, and for meeting suppliers or consultants.
